Ana Mª Pereira Rodríguez holds a BA (1989) and a PhD (1998) in English Philology by Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She obtained the degree of Traductora Superior Especializada (Higher-Ed Specialized Translator) for English (1992) by Instituto Universitario de Lenguas Modernas y Traductores at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Since 1993, she has been teaching general translation and audiovisual translation English > Spanish at Universidade de Vigo.

She also teaches subtitling in several MA programs and courses offered by Universidade de Vigo, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat Jaume I, Universidad de Burgos and Universidad de Cádiz. Together with the translation of children and youth literature, her research lines include audiovisual translation, specifically media accessibility (subtitling, audio description and easy reading). She has published a number of books and articles dealing with these disciplines, and has participated in several research projects focused on these topics.
