Jesús Meiriño Gómez

Jesús Meiriño-Gómez graduated from the University of Vigo in 2009 with a BA in Translation and Interpreting, and was awarded an MA (Hons) in Legal and Business Translation from the University of Alicante in 2010. He also holds an MA in Teaching Compulsory Education, Post-compulsory Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Languages. Jesús is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Vigo. His dissertation focusses on the translation of popular economic texts from English into Spanish, with particular attention to how metaphors and their linguistic realisations are affected by this process of transference.

Jesús was formerly attached to the European projects ‘Gender Identity: Child Readers and Library Collections (G-BOOK)’, ‘Interlingual Live Subtitling for Access (ILSA)’ and ‘Easy Access for Social Inclusion Training (EASIT)’. He is now a research assistant in the ‘G-BOOK 2: European Teens as Readers and Creators in Gender-positive Narratives’ project, and a collaborator in the project ‘The Quality of Live Subtitling (QuaLiSub): A regional, national and international study’. Jesús has also taught as a guest and sessional lecturer in Translation in the Department of Translation and Linguistics at the University of Vigo. Moreover, he has published in several collective volumes on metaphor and translation in Economics, as well as on the translation of children’s literature.
